    Brothers and Sisters,

    I regret to inform you that Brother James Engebretsen, retired member of Burlington System Division Lodge #1488, passed away on September 13, 2021.

    A Celebration of Life will be held at Ventures Bar & Grill in Fosston, MN at 4:30 PM on September 24th. Friends & family are invited to enjoy a keg, courtesy of Jim, as one of his last wishes.


    Jim Engebretsen, age 64, of Fosston, MN, passed away on Monday, September 13th, at Sanford Health Hospital in Fargo, ND. A celebration of Jim’s life will be held beginning at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, September 24th, at Venture’s Bar and Grill in Fosston. All are welcome. Arrangements are with Carlin Family Funeral Service of Fosston and messages of condolence may be shared at www.carlinfuneral.com.

    Jim was born on January 22, 1957, in New Berlin, Wisconsin to parents Christian and Eileen (Quigley) Engebretsen. He was currently living in Fosston. Jim worked Maintenance of Way for Canadian Pacific in the Bridges and Buildings Department. He spent his entire career in that department and worked across the Soo system for 39 years. Jim was a member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance and Way Employees Local Lodge 1488 in Glenwood, Minnesota. Jim took great pride in his work and had a treasure of information of every structure, bridge, and culvert on the Soo property.
